A Dog Jack Sighting?

I have gotten word that the long awaited (okay, maybe only by me...) Civil War film I worked on a few years ago, Dog Jack, might actually see the light of day -- in Pittsburgh. A premiere is set for October 11 in Pittsburgh, PA, and hopefully there will be a Chicago premiere sometime following that. Why Pittsburgh? Well, because that is where we shot some of the film, and that is where the novelist Florence Biros was originally inspired to tell the tale of the real Dog Jack.
The producers are still hoping for some kind of distribution -- whether that be theatrical, TV or DVD. And now that Oscar winner Lou Gossett Jr. is narrating, maybe there is a chance. Anyway, if anyone is around Pittsburgh in October, let me know, maybe I can scare up a couple tickets for you.

We Are the Champions...Again

For the second season in a row, my co-ed softball team won our rec league championship. Here are a few pictures from the playoffs over the weekend (thanks, Gina!) including one of the ridiculously large 1st place trophy. Softball season is over. Well, at least until after Labor Day when the fall season begins!

"5 Steps To Becoming A Working Actor!"

At the place where I have my weekly acting class, there are several other classes/workshops going on. Outside of one such workshop, I found a bulletin listing the following "5 Steps To Becoming A Working Actor!" Here goes the list (followed by my commentary in parentheses):

1) Do a casting director workshop every week or acting class to keep your audition and acting skills sharp! (seems like sound advice so far...)

2) Have a few casting directors who know you, like your work, and will call you in. (ohhh, why didn't I think of that?! yes. "have" some CD's that like you. hmm, how does one just go about "having" such casting director fans? that might be the more helpful info...)

3) Get an agent that will send you out. (again, this wonderfully helpful list makes something that is actually a monumental task -- just getting ANY agent, much less one that will send you out -- seem like you just snap your fingers and there it is.)

4) Have a great picture that looks like you, represents who you are, and matches your essence. (finally, another worthwhile recommendation, though I think this should be step 1 or 2 since without it, there is NO WAY you can achieve steps 2 or 3...)

5) Stay positive and create your own luck. (well, this shouldn't be too hard if you've managed to get to this step. I think it's much more difficult to stay positive when don't "have" a few casting directors, nor an agent. once you have that stuff, if you can't stay positive...well, I think you are in the wrong business.)

TGIF

Worked background on a TGI Friday's commercial in the valley yesterday. It was HOT. But, just glad to be working. I played the always important role of "businessman." I'll let you know if I see it -- think it will be on the internet.

Art the Cat

Now that Art has lived with me for almost 3 months, I thought I'd post some more pictures. He has become a lot more comfortable, and, as you can see, now he sleeps pretty much anywhere. Oh, and he loves to play. If I'm not playing enough, he will drag his stick toy over by me. Ah, cats...
